A Tour around Northern Moldova
Take a trip to the north of Moldova and discover the region’s picturesque landscapes and historical monuments. Start with a visit to the famous cave in Naslavcea, the most northern point of the country, and then explore the ancient mansions and churches in Drochia and Bocancea. Be sure to visit the Ţaul Park, which will surprise you with its beauty and landscape design. If you want to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of a bustling city, head to Soroca, the unofficial capital of Moldova’s gypsies. One Hundred Hills
Be sure to visit the Valley of One Hundred Hills, although in reality there are more than three thousand of them. According to legend, these hills were ancient burial places of the Getae, and were later used as a system for transmitting alarm signals in times of danger. The historical truth remains in question, but one thing is for sure: these unique natural formations, as if carefully placed by nature itself, create stunning views that are impossible to take your eyes off.
Struve Arc
The famous Struve Arc, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, passes through the village of Rudi. Once upon a time, there were 27 geodetic points in Moldova that were used for measurements when creating international maps. Today, only one point remains, located in an apple orchard, just 300 meters from the Soroca-Otaci highway.
For reference: The Struve Arc is a set of 265 triangulation points, which are 2-meter-long stone cubes dug into the ground. The total length of the arc is more than 2820 kilometers. The project was created to determine the exact parameters of the Earth – its shape and size. These measurements confirmed that the Earth is not a perfect sphere, but has the shape of an ellipsoid. Nowadays, only 34 points of the Struve Arc have survived, one of which is located near the village of Rudi in Moldova.
Barza Alb
The Barza Alb factory, located in the center of the city of Balti in the north of Moldova, dates back to 1944. The fallen grapes became a source of strength for the defenders, who were able to hold the defense until the army under the command of Stefan the Great arrived.
Today, “Barza Alb” is famous for its variety of “divins”, the aging of which varies from 3 to 50 years. Among the most famous brands are “White Stork”, “Balti”, “Speranta”, “President”. Over the years of its existence, the plant’s products have won more than 150 medals, including 80 gold, 10 “Grand Prix” awards and the prestigious “Star AWARD” for high quality. “Barza Alb” is ideal for wine tourism lovers and those who want to discover new facets of Moldovan wines, filled with sophistication and rich history.

This exquisite manor, located in the village of Ţaul, was built at the beginning of the 20th century. The land was bought by the banker Andrei Pommer (1851-1912), who completed the construction of all the buildings by 1912. The interior of the manor remained unchanged until 1945, when it was owned by his heirs. However, in the 1960s, the building was adapted to the needs of an agronomic technical school, adding residential and educational premises. At the same time, some outbuildings and elements of the park were lost. Despite the changes, the complex in Tsaul has been preserved better than many other estates of that time.
